Sporting Pictures of the Week :- 13 March
0The sports result of the week was Bangladesh getting through to the knockout phase of the Cricket World Cup. And they put on a celebration to match the occasion.
Their West Pakistan mates were pretty happy in turning over South Africa last weekend.
The focus of the promotional activities for the World Cup then moved to Hamilton, or Hobbiton to be precise. The Indian media was in town, so a special Hobbit cricket was naturally organised. Here’s Stephen Fleming acknowledging where his bread is buttered Bare feet too.
And no event like this would be complete without a bit of Paddles.
Meanwhile the New Zealand team relaxed by …. Visiting horses. It really has been all go in The Tron.
It’s been a busy week for Fleming. Here he is at a golf tournament with a fellow heat pump salesmen / actor, a Tumblr celebrity, a home renovation host, Graeme Swann, and some genuine legends of the game.
Taking a World Cup break for a bit of football. In the middle of that huddle of Chelsea players is the referee in this week’s Champions League match against Paris Saint Germain. They succeeded in getting Zlatan Ibrahimovic sent off, but it is a photo highlighting one of football’s biggest issues.
Chelsea has been under a fair bit of fire recently, so it must have been a relief to have such a dignified and popular figure turn up to show his support.
Back to the cricket, and how cool were the Pakistani fans at Eden Park last weekend?
The one handed catching thing has often been poor though; no more than in Wellington.
