NFL: Finally the regular season starts with Hamish Girvan
0A NFL Week 1 Foursome
Game of the round
New England Patriots v Kansas City Chiefs Friday 12.30pm (NZ time)
Remember the last time the New England Patriots opened their season against the Kansas City Chiefs ? It was in 2008 and Tom Brady’s season was over after 3 minutes after being taken out by journeyman Kansas City Safety Bernard Pollard
This season the Chiefs still have a menacing defence who could cause all sorts of issues for any team however the Patriots will be raising their 5th Superbowl banner at this game and the crowd will be in a frenzy as will the team will be at kick off.
There are some that say that the Chiefs will have a good chance of beating the Patriots early in the season. It is very doubtful this will be the case on this night though – take the Chiefs +8.5 – it will not be a blow out
Other Games to note (Home team first)
Miami Dolphins v Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday- Monday 5am (NZ Time)
Don’t be sucked in by watching Tampa Bay on this seasons Hard Knocks TV show. The Buccaneers will fail to deliver and come undone here – even with Jay Cutler running the Miami offense – Miami +2.5
BREAKING: This game has been postponed due to the impact of Hurricane Irma.
Minnesota Vikings v New Orleans Saints – Tuesday 11.10am (NZ time)
Adrian Petersons return to his old team will end up in tears. The Saints defence is awful and even with Sam Bradford at quarterback for the Vikings they should just sneak in. New Orleans Saints +3.5
Denver Broncos v San Diego Los Angeles Chargers – Tuesday 2.20pm (NZ time)
The Chargers always play tough in Denver however with injuries already ruling out some key players for them the Broncos defence will have Chargers quarterback on his butt a few times. The Chargers Korean kicker Younghoe Koo, may not prove to be any more than an internet sensation though. Denver Broncos -3.5
