All set for the resumption of Six Nations Rugby
0The Six Nations returns with the finale of the competition taking place later this month in October. With four matches played by the majority of the teams, England and France lead the table. The remaining outstanding match in the 4th set of fixtures is Ireland against Italy, which is likely to be a comfortable victory for the Irish. Stepping into the bookie’s sites and the handicap market have Ireland as long odds for victory so no doubt why is the one for punters to look at. Ireland (-28 Points) in the handicap betting market are 10/11 (1.91) to beat Italy and it’s the same odds for Italy to overcome the 28 point handicap.
The game should be very much one-sided and the Irish will be looking for the bonus point to have any chance of securing the title this year. For Italy, it’s a chance to cause a huge shock and climb up the table.

If we assume that Ireland will dispose of Italy, this will mean they have a chance along with England and France to win the title this year. The current outright odds of the tournament before the restart has England as the odds on favorites at 1/3 (1.33) to win the tournament with Ireland second favorites at 10/3 (4.33). France can be backed at 16/1 (17.0) but this is unlikely to happen.
If we re-cap to what’s already happened in this season Six Nations, the opening fixtures saw France beat England as the visitors had a hangover from the World Cup final defeat to South Africa and it looked like the French meant business in this seasons tournament. Wales disposed of Italy comfortably at Millennium Stadium, while over in Ireland, the hosts beat Scotland 19-12 in a close game.
Matchday 2 saw three fantastic matches. Ireland made it two wins out of two as they beat Wales, making home advantage count again. Whilst over in Scotland, a low scoring match saw England come out on top 13-6 in a wet and windy climate. England had to dig deep to secure a win. Over in France, they also made it two wins out of two in an entertaining match against Italy.
Round 3 of matches saw Ireland lose their unbeaten start as England returned to form beating the Irish at Twickenham with a much better display. Scotland won over in Italy, while France made in three wins in a row beating Wales at the Millennium Stadium, which was a huge coup for them.
The final matchday before the break due to COVID saw England win a close match against Wales winning 33-30 at Twickenham. This game swung back and forth as the hosts came out on top. The huge surprise was France losing their unbeaten start as Scotland put in their best performance winning 28-17 at Murrayfield.
As we welcome back the longest ever six Nations tournament, England finds themselves as strong favorites to land the title. Saturday 24th October will see Ireland face Italy with the final matches on Saturday 31st October.
England has heavy odds on to win the match and the current handicap market prior to the Italians facing Ireland is England (-26 Points) at 10/11 (1.91) with the same odds for the hosts (+26 Points) start.
Scotland could put in their best finish in a few years if they were to win away in Wales and the current odds have Wales as 4/11 (1.36) favorites, though Scotland will fancy their chances at 5/2 (3.5) to cause an upset.
The final match is the closest in the betting as France 5/6 (1.83) host Ireland 6/5 (2.2) in what is likely to be a shoot out to finish 2nd in the tournament. The French will feel disappointed they aren’t going into this match going for the ‘Grand Slam’ but their slip up against Scotland now means, they are likely not to even win the tournament, having started so well.
