New Zealand Cricket offer six new players White Ferns contracts for the 2022/23 year. Among those not offered a contract are Canterbury trio Amy Satterthwaite, Lea Tahuhu and Frankie Mackay. Satterthwaite announces her retirement from international cricket.
Steven Alker wins the Senior PGA Championship by three shots at the Harbor Shores Golf Club in Michigan.
In the A-League, the Wellington Phoenix lose 1-0 to Western United in the first round of the finals. Western United go on to win the Grand Final 2-0 against Melbourne City.
Manchester City win their fourth English Premier League title in five seasons, with Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs qualifying for the Champions League. Burnley, Watford, and Norwich are relegated.
Real Madrid beat Liverpool 1-0 in the Champions League Final in Paris; it’s their 14th time as champions.
AFC Wimbledon are relegated from League One in England, finishing the season without a win in their last 27 league games (of 46).
The second golf major of the year, the PGA Championship at Southern Hills, Tulsa, is won by Justin Thomas after a play-off with Will Zalatoris. It’s Thomas’s second major title.
In basketball, the Sydney Kings wrap up the Australian NBL Championship, beating the Tasmania JackJumpers 3-0 in the Grand Final Series. Meanwhile, the Breakers announce that head coach Dan Shamir will step down after three years and be replaced by assistant coach Mody Maor.
