Exercise Advice for the Fashion Conscious
1So many people watch and generally follow sport obsessively without actually playing any themselves. Inspired by the London Olympics last year, a lot of people have been getting their kit on and taking part in exercise, and it’s time you did too. When you’re first starting out it’s easy to feel stupid going for a jog around the local town, or baring your far from toned abs at the swimming pool. With a little help from some sports gear though, you can feel like a pro even when you’re an amateur.
Footwear
Investing in a sturdy pair of trainers is a must if you’re planning on making running a hobby. Cushioned socks are also a good addition to your kit if you usually suffer with sore feet after exercising; take a look at the selection available at www.sportsandoutdoors.co.uk. If you’re fashion conscious, many running shoes have taken on a new, much more stylish edge, so you don’t have to compromise on looking good.
Clothing
As for clothing, anything will do whilst you’re just getting started. Old baggy t-shirts, shorts and vests will work fine; you don’t want to invest in anything too expensive before you know you’re going to be fully committed to an exercise plan. As long as you’re cool and comfy, having the latest sports gear doesn’t matter just yet. If you want to look and feel a bit more professional though, check out some of these (admittedly rather female orientated) ideas.
Extras
A water bottle that you can carry with you around the gym, or even attach to your bike is a good idea for keeping you hydrated. A pedometer is a useful thing to invest in if you don’t have much time to allocate to exercise, as it can help you realise the impact of the walking you already do on a daily basis.
The bottom line is though that taking part in exercise really isn’t about having an excuse to buy the latest pair of trainers. It’s good for the mind, body and soul, and if you’re spending a lot of your time reading about and watching sport, you may as well take the obsession full circle and get involved in playing it too. It doesn’t have to cost anything either. Walking, running and cycling are all free (providing you already own a bike, of course) and are all great ways to keep active without breaking the bank.
