England Could Be Handed Additional Euro 2021 Games

With the Euro 2020 football festival due to take place this July, things are still up in the air. The event is taking place a year later than initially planned due to global crises changing safety protocols. However, big question marks hang over whether or not host cities will be ready to welcome fans amid the climate – online casino winning rates are more certain than the current Euro 2021 situation.
The fact remains, some countries and cities across Europe are still under travel curfews. As the global situation continues to roll onwards, many fans worry that the events may not go ahead as planned. Does that mean England – perhaps in a better position than some – takes on games from forfeiting cities?
UEFA Pressing Forward
UEFA is making it clear that soccer Euro 2020 audiences can look forward to games up ahead. The 12 cities earmarked and confirmed to run matches across the festival will still host at the time of writing. However, some remain unsure.
The clock is ticking. Some news outlets report that England may be ready to take on more games if need be. That falls, reportedly, to suggestions made by Prime Minister Boris Johnson. However, should any UK bodies be ready to take on more, that does not make such arrangements official.
If anything, UEFA is stating there are no plans for the UK to take on anything other cities cannot. However, depending on travel embargoes and border control at the point of Euro 2021 coming to pass, we will have to see if this comes true.
What About Stadiums?
One of the major concerns facing the city hosts is the stadium issue. This issue is, of course, that crowds and audiences have largely curtailed due to ongoing global limitations. While the UK itself is relaxing measures at the time of writing, other countries in Europe are not.
Both France and Germany, for example, are tightening up once more. Could this make Euro 2021 look quite different to plans put into action?
It is entirely possible. Even at this late stage, however, there’s much speculation. With the Olympic Games barring international audiences, UEFA does not seem to foresee a similar lockdown.
In which case, should countries refuse to allow fans in, UEFA may indeed re-allocate its games. There is remarkable confidence at this point, in any case, that things will stay as-is.
Will Euro 2021 Move Again?
One thing is relatively clear, at least – that the Euros will not move again. With the football world cup due next year, arranging both festivals in one year would be challenging.
On top of this, footballers and fans are keen to get back into the sport as soon as possible. Following a challenging year, many hope that Euro 2021 will signal the start of the “new normal” for sports.
Quite whether or not England or anywhere else in the UK will become full hosts this year remains to be seen. For now, fans across Europe are keeping hopes high for local clashes.
