Oh those injuries, all interrelated. I think you’ll find he’ll be right for the next ten years now.
Just for the record, Milne has had one injury that has kept him out of international cricket. As to his performances in UAE – STELLAR!! But lack of wickets suggest he’s not that great. I see this as a positive really as the ball simply doesn’t seam there due to the nature of the pitches. Back in New Zealand he will be our number one strike weapon (if he gets the new ball)
“NZ don’t play that many tests compared to Aussie, England, Pakistan, India & South Africa.”
In the rankings for Tests (which I assume is over a number of years) New Zealand (34) is 3rd behind England (39) and SL (35) in the number of tests played for points allocation period.
I agree too, about Boult and Southee. They played three tests and need a rest!! Fucken Bollocks! Sure stand them down for T20, but come CWC those two will be our front line attack if fit,
Watched the BBC feed of the game online, and have to admire the British. Brit compare, Ali Williams, Jeremey Guscott and some welsh git from the past (think it was Barry Johns or similar) End of the game all but Ali are very sudbued so lead compare asks Welsh Git who his Man of the Match is. “Oh boyo nooo doubt about it, Jamie Roberts!” A little later with a mild form of derision lead compare asks same question – same result. By this stage me and my brother are fair cracking up. Yes asked a third time and same answer and this time he has the joy of having the same man present to the camera to receive his “reward”. duly embarrassed and all boyo!!
Once the AB’s took the ref out of the game they had it.
Fraser Stone (Lock), Northcott (2nd Five) and all three front rowers (Manawatu demolished all but one teams packs this year, the exception was Auckland)
On AB’s. Vito is too old, Conrad in probably his last year of top rugby, and Nonu should be put out to pasture. Perenara is lucky to be an AB, so not rated. Any team with a Franks Brother in it deserves all it gets.
If Hurricanes want support in the provinces they need to embrace those provinces. Imagine a backline with A Smith, A Cruden, Northcott, Emery, Jane, Savea, and Milne-Skudder playing in Wellington, Palmerston North, and Napier. The crowds would come back.
Once again the Hurricanes fail to deliver. Not only have they picked or stuck with QUOTE Wellington Talent UNQUOTE once again they fail to pick players that have shown real form over the past two years, those being from Manawatu and Hawkes Bay. How a former Premiership team manages to hog the playing roster when the two form teams in the region have consistently performed is begging belief. A slap in the face for both provinces.
Thankfully I have never been a Hurricanes Supporter and likely never will be if this shemozzle continues. Wellington, Otago and Southland are now consigned to Championship rugby, such is their lot. Does this mean, especially come end of 2015 SupeRugby Season and lack of performance, the redrawing of the Franchise boundaries and NZRU acknowledgment things are not well in the Cities. (Remember Aucklands last season too!!)
At the mo he’s not, said in an interview a few days back has been working on a more side on approach and straighter arm and likely to go to Aus soon to have it tested.
Btw Anderson isn’t a part timer, he’s good for 10 overs (more so than Neesham) I’d suggest too after his exploits in county cricket Ryder is good for 10 as well.
There have been 15 ODI’s since those heights, he doesn’t feature in any. Picking him in the hope he regains that form is wishful thinking and holds the team back. We need players that will perform 2 games out of three at CWC next year if we want to win it.
Six bowlers:
McLenaghan starts as does Southee. Boult bracketed with N McCullum. Anderson and Ryder, with Williamson the part time or second spinner.
Mills has pedigree, no denying, but it’s time the fresh kids had a go and with the bowling lineup I suggest there simply isn’t nay room for him anymore.
South Africas are reasonably fresh off a tri series in Zimbabwe (Zim, Aus) whereas our mob haven’t played an ODI since India were here way back when so bound to be some rust.
Forget the team that played yesterday, there was no Southee, Mitch McLenaghan, Taylor and Williamson.
Guptill at the mo is being persevered with, god knows why, there are brighter prospects. The only reason he’s been coached to improve his technical frailties is down to a horror loss of form and confidence and as a result poor technique and shot selection. Historically batsmen that get tweaked don’t ever perform again.
Ryder doesn’t deserve a return to top cricket. That’s NZC stance. The reality is He’s a damaging player and NEEDS to be an automatic selection. Play him at 6 with Anderson 7, that’s two bowlers too, 8 Ronchi (I bite my tongue) and the bowlers. BTW How does Kyle Mills still get selected?
Yeah but how amazing is that 3rd lung these days when the blindside is getting subbed off with 20 to play, Richie moved to 6 and new 7 on. Coaches admission McCaw’s ticker is waning.
Building well for RWC 2015. Carter, Vito and Romano, good stalwarts of Pre 2014 world rugby.
If they had their heads screwed on they’d have blooded another openside for backup. Luatua unlucky especially when they say Romano is in. Luatua is also a useful replacement lock. Vito is not.
And now the RSA National Anthem.
They shall grow not old, as AB’s that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor next year condemn.
At the going down of the whistle and in the aftermatch
We will remember them. What!! None in NH??
Read it and (no not weep) glorify!
Just wanted to add MTCW re Walsh. He was from North Harbour (so was Billy Bowden) Guess what, Wellington will be in the same comp as Harbour next year and not due to Walsh.
Nuh sarcasm always fairly directed at Pajama stuff. Typo. 🙂
