Sorry Richie, is your time nearly up? Two key tactical decisions in this test ruled out us winning the game. Both kickable penalties that all AB captains would have taken. Those decisions will not win us back to back RWC next year.
Good game otherwise, felt Barnes had one of his better games.
A few years ago Manawatu won the Championship in round robin and won well. In the “final” they were pipped by second place Hawkes Bay and the Bay were promoted. It’s looking highly likely that same will happen this year. The only good thing coming from this is Wellington will join us in the comp.

Disagree. Henry only had one real blemish as coach, that 2007 France loss and he did say he’d fall on his sword. NZRU saw it differently and saw his potential, which was duly rewarded. As for best 15 every game, that concept died years ago with run on reserves, and besides Henry managed to win a RWC with the countries fourth best 1st Five. The revolving door policy means he has players that fit the game plan and ethos so if there is an injury whoever slots straight in is already in the game plan.
One’s an All Black, one’s a future AB and the third is a very useful player in his own right. Cruden will play the remainder of ITM for Turbos, Otere Black will be run on and Te Kure is spare for the time being.
Seriously injuries aside that Wellington team is lacklustre. All Teams in this competition pride themselves on home results and a team that has trouble even doing that deserves to play in the same comp as North Harbour.
The way it’s (the competition) panning out Wellington will also join former rugby powerhouse Otago in the Championship. Meanwhile Manawatu (unless Hawkes Bay rob us again), Tasman and CM will be in the Premiership next year.
Who said this competition wasn’t exciting?

Actually he made a whole lot of sense, especially when he said it in context to RWC 2007 loss to France. There’s an old adage in sport, when you want to win well you first need to taste defeat and all that brings with it, to make you hungrier not to go there ever again.
The ITM Cup has a level? Wanna buy a good 1st Five? We have 3 available.
Can Wellington still blame Hammett? Fair to say Northland and Manawatu will feature middle to bottom of the comp, which doesn’t give the Capital’s team much hope.

And with that in mind I’d like to see Fekitoa starting at 2nd five this week and Crotty left to cover centres (I rate Crotty very low).
Important things to note from last night’s game.
Age shall not wary them, nor the years condemn, at the going down of the sun, we will remember them.

If Crotty and Moody are the next best thing then NZ Rugby is in tatters.
And SM, the drongo went well given the conditions. His tackling was exemplary. Nonu missed two (before the injury occured).
One person needs mentioning when it comes to talking about defense especially inside the 22, Aaron Cruden. And Aaron Smith saved the loosies bacon a few times around the breakdown.
Conrad’s played his last AB game. I’m dead keen to see a drongo play for another 10 years. (Wasn’t Smokin’ Joe accused of being a sticky hand centre once??)
Not doing it now, traffic here is too slow and my time is causing admin issues.
