NFL Championship Weekend

And we come down to probably the four best teams in the NFL this season – all capable of winning a Superbowl
Remember whatever you say may be recorded
Green Bay Packers at Atlanta Falcons – Monday 9.05am NZ time
Let’s face it Green Bay Quarterback Aaron Rogers is on a roll. Some of his passes on the playoffs have been unreal (and there is always the person at the other end who catches them to praise too) however it is the Aaron Rogers show at the moment. He did call out that they would win their last six to make the playoffs. He has not called that they will win Superbowl however perhaps he should. They come to Atlanta for what will be the last game in the Georgia Dome – a stadium that that has hosted plenty of spectacles in it its history. The Falcons destroyed Seattle last week in a game that was quite comfortable in the end. This week though with Green Bay coming (and no doubt a lot of away fans) they will have to be at their best. Rogers surely can’t carry on with his game winners can he? 5.5 points is what Green Bay are being given as a head start – that’s more than a field goal which is all that there may be in this one.Green Bay +5.5 is the pick here.
Pittsburgh Steelers at New England Patriots Monday 12.40pm NZ time
The Steelers come into Foxborough after creating a NFL record last week in their win over Kansas City – they were one of the first teams to win a playoff game having two touchdowns scored against a team whilst scoring none themselves. Yes the won by scoring 6 field goals versus two touchdowns. Unfortunately the attention has been on them for the rest of the week following Mike Tomlin rant post game about how easy the Patriots have had it playoff wise – streamed live on social media by one of the players (when will anyone ever learn ?). Tomlin needs to understand the Patriots have an easy run as they had the best record in the AFC division. Their spanking of the Texans last week possibly does not help from a competitive viewpoint however they are well rested. You cannot see the Steelers being able to win like they did last week. Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady will throw touchdowns on them. The Steelers might just try to rough him up in their typical bruising style however the New England defence is one of the most improved in the NFL. The Patriots have a point to prove this season – take the 5.5 point start they have – Brady should lead them to another Superbowl appearance.
