NFL Match of the Week with @Girvana
0Washington Redskins @ Carolina Panthers Monday 7am NZ time
“You like dat ? “
An under the radar unbeaten team in the NFL ? That’s what the Carolina Panthers are. Led by Cam Newton (and Season MVP contender) the Panthers are really built around a defence
The Washington Redskins were in a dysfunctional state at the start of the season having benched RG3 for the season and handing the rights to Kirk Cousins. Cousins was a turnover machine however he sent a message to his detractors in a drive that won their game versus Tampa Bay three weeks ago, and subsequently they thrashed the New Orleans Saints last week. (Rob Ryan the Saint defensive coordinator was fired the day after that game)
Cousins can certainly make big plays and he has proved a number of his critics wrong (see above) so nothing is guaranteed here for the Panthers. On paper the Redskins are the weaker team however if they can stop Cam Newton they have a good shot at going close.
The Panthers have a stellar defence which has been the cornerstone of their 9 game unbeaten run. They do not have a flashy offence however quarterback Cam Newton has been solid and reliable.
The Panthers are giving a touchdown start however Washington are quite capable of going close. Tough to call however a good bet would be to take the Redskins will go closer than that.
