NRL Match of the round. Sea Eagles v the Doggies
0By Stephen Gallagher
MATCH OF THE ROUND: ROUND 14 – Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles V Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs – Friday, Brookvale Oval. 19.30 local time, 21.30 NZ time.
LAST WEEK: Manly suffered an upset loss against the New Zealand Warriors 18-16
Canterbury reeled in North Queensland Cowboys with a 36-26 away win.
THIS WEEK: Sea Eagles are the toughest at home. So you know when there’s a fixture at Brookvale Oval that whatever visiting side is going to feel unpopular and unwelcome, especially Des Hasler.
Bulldogs just seem to be going through the motions and notching up wins in ways that would probably frustrate most coaches. A full 80 minute performance would be necessary for a win.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Have Manly forgotten about Des Hasler? Probably not. But they shouldn’t worry, they have an epic exciting team that can be very swift and powerful in an instant. A roll forward from a penalty or a quick play the ball makes them a very formidable side.
Canterbury are a side who love to showcase their flair when things are going their way, but when things aren’t going their way they are stubborn and often beat themselves. The best thing to see would be risks early on, and that shows to be a team willing to put it on the line to win.
THE BATTLE OF: Super Centres. Jamie Lyon is just such a quality player. Seems everything he touches turns to gold. Every team would love a Jamie Lyon in their team.
Krisnan Inu. His form has generally been suspended this season with two incidents this year seeing him sidelined. When he’s playing with confidence he’s an absolute world beater.
KEEP YOUR EYE ON: Jorge Taufua. I rate him as one of the best quality finishers in the competition, and he’s very dangerous close to the line.
Greg Eastwood. Named Beastwood for obvious reason, this destructive forward can cause havoc on attack with huge runs, or huge hits on defence.
PREDICTION:
Always a fiery and bullish affair when these two tussle. Always a good clash.. There’s not too much separating these two teams but Manly are always a class act. To take this one out 30-18
