Sporting pictures of the week :- 11 September
0Rowing prize-givings are becoming their own genre. At the World Champs in France last week there were some gingham tablecloths and lots of figgy puddings.
Tiger Woods at the tennis with that Shooter McGavin guy.
Iceland has qualified for Euro 2016; their first ever appearance at a major football tournament. And they celebrated in the Dressing Room with lashings of … fruit.
In other Euro celebration news San Marino scored their first goal since 2001. That’s 14 years ago, and remember how many European football matches are played. Probably half the Principality’s population are in that shot.
Oh Gareth Bale. Why????
The simmering cricket ethics story of the week was Ben Stokes being dismissed Handled Ball. Putting the morality of the situation to one side, you have to be impressed with the skills of being able to do that while looking the other way.
Meanwhile Alex Hales is The Walrus. He was handed the mask in the dying moments of England’s midweek win over Australia. So of course he wore it.
Here is the 1860 München annual Oktoberfest kit.

The Basin Reserve 1930, first Test at the ground and the scoreboard is showing the first two NZ Test centuries.
Grizz eating a steak.
The commentary team from the 1991 Rugby World Cup. Williams, Bryan and Clarke. Such obvious sprinters.
