I have a boring explanation for the MCG pitch invasion fine. Australian law specifies the value of a penalty unit for breaches of law, and the fine for invading the pitch is 60 penalty units. As of 1 July 2019, a penalty unit in Victoria is $165.22, therefore the fine is 60x that = $9913.20. More at https://www.justice.vic.gov.au/justice-system/fines-and-penalties/penalties-and-values
