Super Bowl Preview (Part 2)
0-
3. Kendrick Lamar is the halftime show performer. On a scale of 1-10, how excited are you about his performance?
HG: A 7 from me. He’s current and would imagine is totally relevant with the current NFL players too. The Recipe is a classic tune, so it would be great to hear that at half time.
JP: Theoretically an 8, but I know that I’m not going to watch it live, so I have to discount that to like a 6.5. I don’t know if this is problematic, but the only reason I like the Super Bowl halftime show is because it gives me half an hour or so to go outside, get some sunlight, decompress, and devise a second half betting strategy to help me get back to even. (Editor’s note – this is an annual source of entertainment for those in JP’s company.)
SG: Kendrick is the biggest name in Super Bowl halftime shows since Gaga in 2017 IMO. This will be FIRE! 8.5 levels of excitement, and I am only a casual Lamar listener.
SM: 7/10. More curious than excited about what he’ll bring.
RN: 6. I like some of his music, but he’s not an artist I choose to listen to.
- What’s your craziest prediction for the game?
HG: Travis Kelce proposes to Taylor Swift with winning confetti falling, and Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince playing over the PA.
JP: Gary Russell is going to be the celebrity assisting at the coin toss.
SG: That fans of the NFL quit whinging about Mahomes and the referees. If that prediction comes true, the world may actually freeze over. I’m here for it though. It’s a blight on the game. I’m over it. Grow up.
SM: Not during it, but afterwards if Kansas City wins. And it’s Travis Kelce announces his retirement, proposes on the field to Taylor Swift, and singlehandedly breaks the internet. (Editor’s note – can’t be that crazy if two of you are predicting it!)
RN: The one thing the Chiefs haven’t had in their trio of recent Super Bowl wins is a convincing blowout. They’ve also gone all season without blowing teams out, which has most predicting that this one will be similarly close. I think they win this with ease, keeping the Eagles offense quiet and rolling to a 20 point win.
- Who wins, what’s the score, who is MVP?
HG: Chiefs, 31-27, Mahomes.
JP: Chiefs, 26-24, Mahomes.
SG: Chiefs, 34-28, Mahomes.
SM: Eagles, 38-35, Barkley.
RN: Chiefs, 27-3, Mahomes.
