1New Zealand will be playing test cricket in less than two weeks. This season’s test schedule comprises of a couple of short bookends at either end, so each test is pretty important.
This round of the Plunket Shield saw the return of the big guns from the tour of India so it was a good chance to see what kind of form they are in.
In a hypothetical test match, here is how the 12 players selected for the Basin Reserve test fared over the three matches.

Taylor | 34 | 90 | ||
Nicholls | 13 | 21 | ||
de Grandhomme | 50 | 1/29 | 3/46 | |

Remember this hypothetical match was played against other New Zealand players who did not make the cut for the test squad. But, despite a late effort from Ross Taylor, that doesn’t look too flash.
There is another round next week, which is shaping as pretty important. Keep an eye on it.
