0And then there were none…
The Kansas City Chiefs were the last undefeated team in the NFL until the live game televised here on Monday. Losing 27-17 to the Denver Broncos they are now 9-1. Still the best record in the NFL – now shared with the Denver Broncos. Round 2 in two weeks time at the home of the Chiefs. More people watched Chiefs-Broncos game on TV than the last College Football BCS National Championship game or Game 7 of the NBA Finals. It was the 6th-highest Sunday NFL overnight in NBC primetime history
Fantasy Football
The NFL version of fantasy football becomes both more intense and more professional season by season. Started in the 1960s the internet and social media have taken it to a new level. NFL tweets abusing players who don’t hit projected points is now all too common. The NFL itself have driven this behaviour by displaying fantasy scores of individual players live on scoreboards.
Individual leagues have become big business with some leagues set up as competitions where thousands of dollars can be won weekly. The dollars here will only grow further. The premise is you build a tem in a draft like scenario and play each other in a weekly league. Points are gained or list for every different scenario. The next step will be players betting with each other over yards gained, lost etc so expect some sort of controversy to arise soon. For the record the highest scoring player this week so far is Tampa Bay Running Back Bobby Rainey who amassed 34.70 points in their win against Atlanta having only totalled 17.30 points all season. The NFL is all about stats.
If the season finished today…..
